1. DraftKings

DraftKings-App.jpg

If you are looking for the most popular sports betting site in America, DraftKings is up there with the best. The service is now available in 21 states, making it one of the most widely available sportsbooks. DraftKings offers players an excellent fantasy sports service and a fantastic online sportsbook. If you have never tried fantasy sports, think of it as an exciting way to enjoy each week of fixtures. You can create a fantasy team for the entire season or for one game. The aim is to choose as strong a team as possible that earns points based on their performance. Players usually compete for large prize pools, which you can enter for free on some occasions.

The DraftKings Sportsbook is one of the best because it offers consistent odds across multiple sports. Many sports betting sites rely on odds boosts or promotions to give great value to the players. Whereas, DraftKings has, on average, better-paying odds for most wagers. That means players can earn more profit from successful wagers if they place bets at DraftKings. Besides the fantastic odds, DraftKings also offers players access to an NFT Marketplace. The Marketplace has a wide range of sports-related NFTs for players to buy and sell. Even if you have no interest in cryptocurrency, DraftKings is one of the best sportsbooks in Ohio.

2. FanDuel

FanDuel-App.jpg

Whenever we talk about DraftKings, we often mention FanDuel, as people want to know which service is better. There are a lot of similarities between the two, as they both offer fantasy sports contests. Since 2019, FanDuel and DraftKings entered the world of sports betting, competing to give us the best online sportsbook. Either service is fantastic for new or experienced players, but there are several differences between them.

DraftKings offers more fantasy sports to choose from and usually more sports to bet on at the sportsbook. Both sports betting sites have consistent odds, but DraftKings usually offer slightly better returns. Plus, the prizes at DraftKings for fantasy contests can be much larger than FanDuel. However, if you are a new player, the FanDuel mobile app is a lot easier to understand. Finding the sports you want to bet on and the wagers you want to place is straightforward for new players. Plus, throughout the year at FanDuel, you are more likely to get access to a variety of promotions, such as free bets. Overall, either service is up there with the best in Ohio and across America.

3. Caesars

Caesars-App.jpg

If you are a sports fan who wants to bet on the widest selection of events, Caesars is an outstanding option. That is because there are 20 sports for members of Caesars Sportsbook to bet on. That includes a fantastic collection of motorsports, such as Formula 1, Formula E, IndyCar, and the NASCAR series. Besides the various auto sports, you will also find events such as the Olympics, lacrosse, and rugby. If you are wondering about the promotions, Caesars has stepped up and delivered several exciting promotions for Ohio players. That includes a large welcome offer worth $1,500 and various profit boosts.

Caesars offers players a fantastic live betting section as there are lots of statistics and a fancy graphic that updates in real-time to show you the game as it unfolds. The sportsbook does not support live streams, so you will have to rely on these features to stay updated with the latest action. As we have mentioned, Caesars has increased the number of promotions on offer throughout the year. Usually, you will only find promos around big sporting events, but they have introduced several promotions since the service launched in Ohio.

4. BetMGM

BetMGM-App.jpg

BetMGM is another popular service across America, as it is also widely available. In some select states, BetMGM offers players a gigantic online casino with over 2,500 slots. However, online casino games are not legal in Ohio yet, so we have to focus on the sportsbook. Throughout the year, BetMGM gives out a variety of promotions. This can include free bets on the NFL, risk-free bets on the NBA, and even bet boosts on the MLB.

Another aspect that helps BetMGM is the fantastic live betting service. BetMGM offers players live streams for certain sporting events and a fantastic collection of statistics. You can find out vital information before the game even starts, plus breakdowns of how each team or player is performing. The sportsbook has around 16 events for you to bet on, a few less than the very best services in the state. If you are looking for a reliable and well-equipped sports betting site, BetMGM is one of the best in Ohio.

5. BetRivers

BetRivers-App.jpg

If you are searching for an alternative to the brands above, BetRivers is a fantastic option. Like Caesars, the sportsbook usually provides players with a range of markets to bet on from all over the globe. There are around 20 sports to choose from, including events like bowling, NASCAR, and eSports. Plus, BetRivers regularly gives out exciting promotions all year round. This includes multiple ways to get free bets, risk-free wagers, and odds boosts for the NHL, NBA, and NCAAB.

The live betting service at BetRivers is another one of its strengths. At the sportsbook, players have access to the widest collection of statistics. These stats and figures provide a wonderful insight into a team’s performance over recent seasons. The figures at BetRivers are up there with the most detailed you will find at a sports betting site in Ohio. Unfortunately, residents of Ohio will not have access to the BetRivers Casino, which is also one of the best in America. If you are looking for a sports betting service that competes with the likes of DraftKings and FanDuel, then don’t overlook BetRivers.

6. Bet365

Bet365-App.jpg

There are nearly 20 sports betting sites available in Ohio, and Bet365 is up there with the best of them. It has 19 sports for you to bet on, including exciting eSports events. They have events like Formula E, lacrosse, and rugby matches to place wagers on. The sportsbook is a favorite of ours because of the wide range of boosted bets and promotions. Bet365 is consistent with giving all players something to enjoy. Most recently, they have introduced early payouts across several sports if the team you bet on takes a large enough lead.

Besides the early payout promos, Bet365 offers players an excellent welcome bonus and multi-sport parlay boost. Any new player can sign up for Bet365 Ohio and enjoy free bets worth $365. All you have to do is create an account and place a wager worth one dollar, and the bonus bets are all yours. Once you have claimed that bonus, Bet365 also offers a multi-sport profit boost of up to 70% for players who create successful parlays with two or more legs. Make sure you read the terms and conditions before you sign up, but the bonuses at Bet365 are excellent.

7. Barstool

Barstool-App.jpg

The Barstool Sportsbook is a little different from the betting sites we have mentioned so far. That is because there is an overlap between the sports-based content created by Barstool and the boosted bets you will find in the sportsbook. For those of you who don’t know, Barstool has various personalities that have vibrant sporting opinions. Every week, some of these personalities create wagers with boosted returns for players to use at the sportsbook.

The sportsbook is one of the most widely available across America, as you can join Barstool from 14 different states. The Barstool mobile sports betting app is easy for anyone to use, even if you have no interest in the content the personalities create. Navigating the site is straightforward and there are tools to help you place the exact bet you want. Overall, Barstool is a great sports betting site, especially since they have stepped up with the number of promotions on offer in Ohio.

8. Betway

Betway-App.jpg

Betway is becoming a popular choice for many across America for several reasons. For starters, it is now available in eight states and offers players 16 events to bet on. Usually, Betway offers players a wide selection of promotions to enjoy throughout the season. This includes free bets and parlay boosts worth up to 40% on all soccer parlays. The more legs you introduce to your parlay, the bigger the profit boost you will receive. However, the promotions have not been as abundant at the Ohio Betway Sportsbook.

Even though Betway does not have the largest collection of sports in Ohio, it has a great variety. You can bet on motorsports like Formula 1 and NASCAR, plus various eSports events. Betway has an excellent live betting section where you can watch big events using a live stream. The sportsbook offers an enormous range of wagers for live events, plus they provide all players with excellent statistics. If you are looking for a sportsbook for eSports betting or a service with a brilliant mobile app, Betway is a great option.

9. PointsBet

PointsBet-App.jpg

PointsBet is a popular choice in Ohio for several reasons. For starters, they offer a unique type of wager called PointsBetting. This is where you can bet on aspects, like the total points scored in a game, and for every point scored above your prediction, you win more cash. The downside to this wager is that you can end up losing a lot more than your stake if you get the prediction wrong.

Besides PointsBetting, there are 17 events to bet on, including eSports events. You can bet on Formula 1 and all the American sports, like football and baseball. PointsBet offers live streams for large sporting events, plus various stats and figures to help you make a live bet. The sportsbook does not offer much in the way of promotions, but you can claim free bets by saving up enough reward points. Plus, there is a quick parlay tool, allowing you to build multi-sport parlays without having to browse the entire sportsbook.

10. Betfred

Betfred-App.jpg

If you are looking for a sportsbook partnered with the Cincinnati Bengals, then you have found Betfred. The Betfred Sportsbook has 12 events for you to bet on, including soccer, boxing, and MMA. Betfred is another sports betting site that regularly boosts wagers for players to enjoy. This can include futures, straight bets, and parlays across the week’s action.

Betfred does not give out promotions for free, instead, you must earn them. The Betfred reward system gives bonuses to loyal players. This includes free bet do-overs if your wager ends up as a push, plus free bets every month and a bonus on your birthday. If you are looking to join one service, Betfred is not a terrible option. However, other sports betting sites offer more promos without having to be loyal customers.

11. SuperBook

SuperBook-App.jpg

Now that we have spoken about a lot of the bigger brands, it’s time to focus on some sportsbooks that don’t always get the recognition they deserve. SuperBook is now available in seven states and it confirmed three more are on the way. Players from Ohio, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Jersey, and Tennessee have access to SuperBook with Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia coming soon.

SuperBook has 13 markets for players to bet on in Ohio, making it one of the smallest in the state. The sportsbook focuses on the most popular sports in America, such as football, hockey, and basketball. The one positive to the restrictive selection is that you are more likely to find a useful promo at this sportsbook. They always have promos for the next UFC event and any big NBA or NCAAB game. If you wanted to avoid the likes of DraftKings, SuperBook is a fantastic sports betting site to join.

12. BetJACK

betJack-App.jpg

BetJACK is one of the most popular sports betting services in Ohio and once you visit the site, it is easy to see why. There are 19 markets available, allowing you to bet on multiple types of motorsports and important sports like hockey. Plus, the sportsbook is full of special bets, which include soccer, basketball, and football. The boosted bets are more reasonable than a lot of rival sports betting sites. BetJACK has boosted wagers with often only two components, making them far more likely to occur than parlays with several legs.

The sportsbook also favors a simplistic color scheme, which can make life easier for new players. There are no complex menus or fiddly tabs to worry about. Plus, they have sliders for you to adjust the size of your spread bet or the total points scored. There are many sports betting sites available in Ohio, but BetJACK is a surprise package. Both new and experienced sports bettors can use and enjoy the service at BetJACK.

13. Hard Rock

Hard-Rock-App.jpg

The Hard Rock Sportsbook is another often-overlooked sports betting platform. It has an impressive collection of sports from around the world and is very easy for new players to use. Hard Rock opts for the minimalist approach to the design and color scheme of the sportsbook. Any new player will find using Hard Rock easy, as there are no complex menus to navigate.

The sportsbook runs a lot of promotions, but most of them seem to apply to other states. They restrict a lot of the exciting promotions to Tennessee players only, which can be frustrating. If promotions are not important to you, then Hard Rock remains a good choice. However, Hard Rock introduces new promotions weekly, so there could be a few bonuses waiting for you.

14. Tipico

Tipico-App.jpg

Another sports betting service that takes bet boosts seriously is Tipico. They can have up to 100 boosted bets for all players to consider. The boosts range across multiple sports, such as the NBA, golf, Formula 1, and even the NCAAB. These boosts can be good value or they can inspire you to make your winning wager.

The Tipico sportsbook has not entered Ohio with many promotions, but that has improved a lot in recent weeks. Tipico is running a giveaway to loyal players with a total of $500k up for grabs. The other promotion is a competition where players can get a $20 free bet when they bet on the NCAAB tournament. It is easy to overlook a sportsbook like Tipico, but it has a lot of exciting features. Promotions during the college basketball tournament and dozens of boosted wagers are just two examples of why you should join Tipico.

15. betParx

BetParx-App.jpg

Most sports betting sites launched in Ohio on January 1, 2023, but betParx entered the scene over a month later on February 14. Besides being fashionably late to the party, what else does betParx bring to Ohio? There are around 20 events for you to bet on, including bowling, cricket, and lacrosse. Also, betParx has brought a variety of promotions to The Buckeye State. The promotions apply to college basketball, the NBA, and NHL. You can claim profit boosts for each sport ranging from 33% up to 50% for various parlays and same game parlays.

betParx is also running an exciting promotion during the NCAAB tournament where players can get a variety of exciting prizes. Anyone who bets between $250 and $500 during March gets a $25 free bet, and anyone under $1,000 gets a $50 free bet. For all you high rollers who stake more than $1,000 gets to choose your prize from the gift shop. To find out more about this promotion, we recommend you check out the betParx terms and conditions.

16. MVGBet Sportsbook

MVGBet-App.jpg

MVGBet is an Ohio-exclusive sports betting platform that was launched at the turn of 2023. The name MVG comes from Miami Valley Gaming, a vibrant racetrack with a collection of casino games. The casino is in Lebanon, Ohio, and it offers players the chance to make sports bets and bets on horse racing in person. MVGBet has a vibrant reward system where you earn various exciting prizes. The rewards you can claim include free bets to use on the online sportsbook.

There are 15 sports to bet on at MVGBet, including Aussie rules, IndyCar, and cycling. The sportsbook includes a variety of boosted bets, with more appearing during large sporting events. MVGBet offers players various promotions, such as a parlay boost worth up to 25% on the NCAAB. The more legs in your winning college basketball parlay, the bigger your profit boost. If you are searching for one sports betting platform to join and stay at all year, MVGBet is a great candidate.

17. Betr

Betr-App.jpg

For those of you who don’t know, Betr is a micro-betting sportsbook created by Jake Paul and Joey Levy. The app allows you to bet on every aspect of a game, including the result of the next play. Betr does not work like a traditional sportsbook. Instead of taking money from the house, you are looking to make money off your peers. The app is available nationwide for players to enjoy for free. But in Ohio, you can place real wagers with actual money. This sportsbook is certainly aimed towards the more experienced players.

18. Fanatics – Coming Soon

Fanatics-Sportsbook-App.jpg

For those of you who don’t know, Fanatics has been making waves in the sports merchandise scene for quite a while now. However, now they have confirmed they are entering the sports betting space. The Washington Commanders have already made history by partnering with Fanatics to open a Sportsbook at FedEx Field.

Back in January 2023, they announced Fanatics are in talks to acquire the betParx Sportsbook. Once again, they have not confirmed if a deal has been reached, but it leaves us wondering. Will Fanatics launch a brand new sports betting platform, or will they take over the competition?

19. Underdog – Coming Soon

Underdog-App.jpg

In December 2022, the Ohio Control Board granted the Underdog Sportsbook a license. Unfortunately, the service is still yet to go live in Ohio or Colorado, the two states it has a license to operate in. For those of you who don’t know, Underdog Sports is a fantasy sports provider similar to FanDuel and DraftKings. There is no release date for the sports betting service, but rumor has it launching in 2023.

20. WynnBET – Coming Soon

WynnBET-App.jpg

WynnBET secured its Ohio license in August last year, which meant it was not ready to launch on the opening day. Once again, we can’t confirm an exact launch date, but we believe it will be available in 2023. If you would like to know more about WynnBET, we examined the sportsbook in a lengthy review. This is where you can find out how it compares to the likes of FanDuel and DraftKings.

21. Bally Bet – Coming Soon

Bally-Bet-App.jpg

Bally Bet received a license to operate in Ohio back in September 2022. They scheduled the initial launch date for January 1, 2023; however, Bally Bet is still not available in The Buckeye State. This delay could have something to do with the setbacks Bally Bet faced when launching in Tennessee. The CEO confirmed Bally Bet was not ready for launch as they did not want to rush an inferior product. Bally Bet will launch later this year.

22. Out of the Gate – Coming Soon

Out-The-Gate-App.jpg

Out of the Gate secured a license to offer sports betting in Ohio on September 15, 2022. It is another service expected to launch later this year, but there is no official date. Stay tuned to Bet Station and we will keep you updated with any fresh developments. There are a lot of rumors surrounding the launch of this sportsbook, but there is no way to verify these claims.

23. Prophet Exchange – Coming Soon

Prophet-Exchange-App.jpg

The Prophet Exchange is a peer-to-peer sports betting service where players place bets against each other. That means you do not win money from the house, but you place bets that other players take. The service is up and running in New Jersey but has yet to launch in Ohio. Once again, several websites are claiming to know when the service will launch, but the company is yet to confirm any of these details. Once we get confirmation from the official source, we will update this guide.

24. Fubo – Closed

Fubo-App.jpg

Fubo announced a deal back in February 2022 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The TV and sports betting site secured a license to operate in Ohio, which was never utilized. That is because, in October 2022, Fubo closed its sports betting services. That means Fubo never launched in Ohio and is no longer offering an online sportsbook across America.

25. PlayUp – Denied Application

Play-Up-App.jpg

In October 2022, PlayUp confirmed its intentions of launching in Ohio with a partnership with Jack Cleveland Casino. However, PlayUp launched the Slots+ mobile app, where residents could play online slots and bet on virtual sports. This service was not legal in Ohio and caused the state to deny PlayUp’s sports betting license and force Slots+ to be pulled from the marketplace. While you can’t assume anything in life, it might be fairly certain that PlayUp won’t enter Ohio anytime soon.

26. MaximBet – Never Launched

MaximBet-App.jpg

Just like Fubo, MaximBet received a license to operate in Ohio but closed its sports betting platform before 2023. MaximBet closed on November 16, 2022, less than two months before Ohio legalized sports betting. That means you will not see MaximBet in Ohio.

The History of Sports Betting in Ohio

The history of sports betting in America is complex and difficult to understand. To help wade through all the failed bills and campaigns, we have a helpful timeline to explain all the major events in Ohio over the past few years. In case you did not know, they effectively outlawed sports betting in 1992. That all changed in 2018 when the Supreme Court overruled the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. This allowed each state to legalize and regulate sports betting, which is where we are today.

  • February 22, 1991: Dennis DeConcini introduces the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act to the Senate for the first time.
  • June 2, 1992: The Senate votes in favor of the PASPA with 88 votes and five against.
  • October 28, 1992: President of the United States, George Bush, signed the 1992 PASPA into law, outlawing sports betting nationwide.
  • June 2017: The Supreme Court will listen to arguments against the PASPA after years of failed attempts.
  • May 2018: The Supreme Court overturns the 1992 PASPA on the grounds that the act is not constitutional. States across America now have the freedom to legislate sports betting.
  • December 2019: Two bills are proposed in Ohio to legalize sports betting, but neither bill gains enough support to move forward.
  • June 2021: SB 176 passes the Senate vote and becomes an amendment for HB 29.
  • December 22, 2021: The bill that will allow sports betting in Ohio passes the House vote and Senate, and Governor Mike DeWine signs it into law.
  • January 2022: Although there is a law allowing sports betting in Ohio, there is no infrastructure to support sports betting in The Buckeye State. This changed during the summer and Ohio confirms there will be an official launch date for sports betting.
  • February 2022: Online sports betting companies secure agreements and partnerships with established brands and teams in Ohio. Such as Fubo forming a partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
  • June 1, 2022: The Ohio Casino Control Commission reveals the launch date for sports betting to be January 1, 2023.
  • June 15, 2022: The window to apply for sports betting licenses opens in Ohio.
  • October 18, 2022: Fubo closes down its sports betting operation and will no longer launch in Ohio.
  • November 16, 2022: MaximBet follows Fubo and also shuts down sports betting operations.
  • December 15, 2022: PlayUp pulls its Slots+ product from Ohio after offering what the control commission considers illegal gambling. This causes the OCCC to deny PlayUp a sports betting license.
  • January 1, 2023: Launch day for 16 sports betting apps in Ohio, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, Betway, Bet365, Barstool, PointsBet, Betfred, SuperBook, Hard Rock, Tipico, MVGBet, Betr, and BetJACK.
  • February 14, 2023: betParx finally launches in Ohio a month after the official launch date.
  • March 2023: Fanatics, WynnBET, Underdog, Bally Bet, Prophet Exchange, and Out of the Gate are expected to launch in Ohio later this year.

Online Sports Betting Markets OH

As well as each state has different rules, each sportsbook will have a different range of events to bet on. Some sports betting sites have a much larger selection than others, which is why we have created the table below. This is where you can find out exactly what sports are available at each sports betting site. Several sports are seasonal, meaning they can appear or disappear throughout the year.

If you want to bet on the widest range of events, we recommend joining a sportsbook with the largest collection of markets. Usually, if the sportsbook supports sports from all over the globe, they will also contain the most leagues. This is where you can bet on the Croatian soccer league, a Norwegian basketball tournament, and baseball games in Japan.

What can’t you Bet on in Ohio?

While there is a lot of newfound freedom for bettors in Ohio, there are still several events you can’t bet on. The severity of these rules varies depending on the state. Some allow online casino games, while others take wagers on eSports events. Below are the events you can’t bet on in The Buckeye State.

  • Politics
  • Online Casino Games
  • Award Ceremonies
  • Events Settled Before the Start of a Game: Gatorade Color, Clothes, Coin Toss, etc.

Ohio has an interesting rule you won’t find in many other states. Residents can’t bet on clothing or events that are determined before the start of the game. For example, you can’t bet on the outcome of the coin toss at the Super Bowl. Plus, it also rules out the color of the Gatorade or clothes a coach wears. On top of this interesting rule, you also can’t bet on political events or award ceremonies like the Oscars.

Types of Bets at Ohio Online Sportsbooks

Now that we have established what you can’t bet on, let’s examine the wagers you can place at Ohio sportsbooks. That includes wagers on sporting events plus eSports competitions as well. If you want to join a sportsbook with eSports betting, make sure you check out our table with all markets available at each sports betting site.

  • Moneyline
  • Total or Over Unders
  • Spreads
  • Same game parlays
  • Teasers
  • Futures
  • Parlays
  • Props
  • Round Robins
  • Live Bets

Although every sports betting site in Ohio is different, they all allow you to place these types of wagers. Some of the sportsbooks in Ohio also offer players boosted bets. This is where they will increase the odds of the wagers we listed above. You can get higher returns for bets like same game parlays or you can use these boosts as inspiration to create your own bet.

Tax Rate for Online Gambling in Ohio

Most states have tax bands that increase depending on how much you earn in a year. This is important, as you have to declare your gambling winnings as income when filing your taxes. That often means the amount you pay on your gambling winnings depends on how much you earn in a year. That is the current system in place in Ohio. There is no flat tax band for all players.

In Ohio, the tax band ranges from 0% up to 3.990% for the top earners. That means the most you will pay in tax for your gambling winnings is just under four percent. The top bracket only applies to residents of Ohio who earn more than $115,300 a year, meaning most of us will fall under this threshold. If you are unsure how much tax you will have to pay, you can use an online calculator for Ohio to get a rough estimate.

Ohio Online Sports Betting Revenue

Sports betting is worth tens of billions of dollars a year across America. Since Ohio has only had legal sports betting since January 2023, there is not a lot of data out there to see how much sports betting is worth to The Buckeye State. The natural trend for sports betting is starting incredibly popular before it calms down throughout the year. Towards the end of the football, hockey, and basketball season, betting activity picks up again. Below, we examine the amount of data we have so far.

January 2023Gross ReceiptsRevenue
Retail$22.9M$3.2M
Online$1.09bn$205.6M
Total$1.11bn$208.9M

So far, the Ohio Casino Control Commission has only released the figures for the first month of legal sports betting in Ohio. It proved to be a successful month as residents spent over one billion dollars on sports-related wagers both online and in-person. This resulted in over $200 million worth of revenue for sports betting platforms in the first month alone. If sports betting continues at a pace similar to this throughout 2023, Ohio could be one of the most lucrative states in America for sports betting.

Payment Methods at OH Sportsbooks

New players often overlook the importance of checking the payment methods before they sign up. While you might assume that sports betting sites want to make it as easy as possible to deposit and withdraw money, that is not always the case. Some online sportsbooks are very restricting in the payment methods on offer. That means you could sign up and find it troublesome to deposit or withdraw your winnings.

In the next two sections, we have detailed tables showing you what payment methods they accept at each sportsbook. You do not need to join the service with the most methods, just look for the processes that would be most convenient for you. In our experience, methods like PayPal are often the best, as they have the quickest withdrawal times. However, there are plenty of options to consider in Ohio.

Deposits

There are 17 sports betting sites available in Ohio right now, but none of them offer the same deposit methods. Some online sports betting sites allow players to visit retail locations and bet with cash. Others do not support any form of cash payments. We recommend any player check this table out before you register. It can help save you time by avoiding sportsbooks that do not suit your needs.

Sports betting can become addictive, which is why we encourage all players to gamble responsibly. Every sportsbook has tools you should use to restrict the amount of money you spend. Even if you think this does not apply to you, you can set the limits just in case.

Withdrawals

Everything that we have mentioned about deposits also applies to withdrawals. Meaning, some sportsbooks will allow players to make cash withdrawals from their online accounts. Plus, some sports betting sites allow you to withdraw using your debit card or bank account. Make sure the sportsbook you join has the deposit and withdrawal methods that are best for you.

If you join an online sportsbook, make a deposit with your bank account, and then try to withdraw via PayPal, you might not get the option. That is because some sportsbooks require players to deposit with a certain method to be eligible for withdrawal. This may sound inconvenient, but it helps protect your account from hackers. If you want to withdraw from your bank account or PayPal, you must deposit this method beforehand.

If you want to know more about a type of promotion or individual sportsbook, check out the guides and reviews here at Bet Station.

Free Bets

The free bet promotion is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a sports betting site with no risk to your bank account. That is because you can’t withdraw a free bet, but you can use it to place a wager without using your cash. If you win the wager, you get to keep all the winnings. However, you do not get to keep the value of the free bet no matter what. If your bet loses, then you do not lose any of your cash.

If this is your first time joining an online sportsbook, there are a few aspects you need to know before you register. Promotions at every sports betting site change all the time. One week, there could be several ways to claim a free bet and then none the next. If promotions are important to you, then joining any of the sites below is more likely to give out promotions throughout the year than the competition.

Best Sites for Free Bets

  • BetRivers: Place an MLB future bet and get up to 50% of your wager matched as a free bet. If you make three or more NBA same game parlays in a week, you get a $10 free bet to use on the NBA.
  • SuperBook: Bet $86 on the moneyline of any main card fight for UFC 286 and get a $10 free bet for every knockout or TKO on the main card. If you double the size of your bet to $172, you can get a $20 free bet for every TKO or knockout.

  • Bet365: New players bet $1 and get $365 in free bets to use across the sportsbook.

Risk-Free Bets

As we mentioned, the free bet comes without risk, well the risk-free bet takes this one step further. For a risk-free bet, you must wager your own money, but if your bet loses, they will give you a free bet to cover your stake. As this promotion is risk-free, it means if you win; you don’t get an additional prize. Instead, you keep all the winnings and the stake as you would normally. The only benefit to this wager is there is a safety net to give you a free bet if the worst should happen.

Best Sites for Risk-Free Bets

  • FanDuel: New members of FanDuel can enjoy a $1,000 risk-free bet when they sign up.
  • BetMGM: Register at BetMGM for a risk-free wager worth $1,000.

Odds Boosts

The odds boost is growing in popularity across Ohio as more and more sportsbooks are offering this promotion to players. This is great news for us, as it means we can increase our profit across multiple sports. Online sportsbooks can give odds boosts for us to use on our own parlays and wagers, plus they can offer boosted bets for anyone to choose from. These boosted bets can include parlays and straight bets, and they usually pay more than if you were to place the wager yourself. Odds boosts and profit boosts are a great way to play in Ohio.

Best Sites for Odds Boosts

  • betParx: You can claim three 33% parlay profit boosts for college basketball every Saturday and three boosts for the NHL on Wednesday. Players can also enjoy a 50% same game profit boost for pro basketball on a Sunday.

Plus the best sports betting platform for fans who want to bet on events taking place all over the world.

Best for Sport

Ohio has 17 sports betting sites currently available with six more services launching this year. That means choosing one service from so many is no simple process. Let’s say you are looking for the sportsbook with the most markets. What are your options? Well, there are several sportsbooks with an enormous selection to bet on, but the ones listed below have the biggest collection.

  • BetRivers
  • Caesars
  • DraftKings
  • Bet365
  • BetJACK
  • betParx

If you are only interested in sports like football, baseball, and basketball, you can join any service you like. That is because every sportsbook in Ohio has these sports on offer, so it does not matter which one you choose. If you want to split services apart, look at the promotions or the payment methods available.

Best for Fantasy Sports

There will be three fantasy sports providers in Ohio that also operate excellent fantasy sports betting services. Unfortunately, the Underdog Sportsbook has not officially launched yet. Out of the two services available, FanDuel and DraftKings, they both provide excellent fantasy sports contests and online sportsbooks. The difference between the two is that DraftKings can offer much larger prize pools. If you are brand new to fantasy sports, FanDuel might be the better option as it is easier to use.

  • DraftKings
  • FanDuel
  • Underdog Sports

Joining any of these three fantasy sports services means you are signing up for the best service in America. All these brands have vibrant online communities and support forums to help you get up to speed. Do not be afraid to try them out!

Best Mobile App

While every sportsbook in Ohio has a mobile app, not every app is easy to use. Some sportsbooks, like FanDuel and Caesars, provide a service that is easy for every type of player to navigate. That means, when you click on a sport, it is easy to find the bets you want. You won’t have to scroll past hundreds of unusual wagers to find the best wagers. Plus, services like BetMGM allow you to create multi-sport parlays without having to flick between different sports.

  • Caesars
  • FanDuel
  • BetMGM
  • PointsBet

Once you get used to a sports betting site, it will help if you decide to try another service. We often encourage players to join multiple sports betting sites to find the one that supports them the best. However, if you decide to join multiple sportsbooks, remember to set deposit limits. You also do not need to deposit to sample how a sports betting app operates. But if you do, please gamble responsibly.

How to Get Started at Ohio Sportsbooks

betParx-Ohio.PNG

If you decide on a sports betting site to join but are unsure about the registration process, this section is here to help. That is because you must get the registration process right to secure your welcome offer. Across several sportsbooks, there is an optional promo box that, if you leave it blank, could cost you to miss out on a welcome bonus. Make sure you read the terms and conditions of a welcome offer before you start the registration process.

Step 1

The first step is to download a copy of the sportsbook to your mobile device or to visit the website on your PC. Then you click the “Join” button and begin the registration process. The next step is where you enter your email address, choose a password, and even create a username in some circumstances. Next, you must enter your personal information, such as your name, date of birth, and age. It is at this point that you can enter the promo code to receive your bonus. If you check the promotions page, you will see whether the welcome bonus requires a code. If it does, make sure you copy the code over or insert a referral code you got from a friend.

Step 2

Once you complete this step, you will need to enter the last four digits of your social security number. They use your SSN for verifying your identity before they allow you to place a bet. At some sportsbooks, you can use other forms of ID to verify your identity. Next, you must verify your account either by email or text message. Your account will not become active until you have entered the verification code or confirmed via email.

Step 3

Now that you have completed the registration process, check the welcome bonus one more time. These offers are usually full of sneaky conditions you must meet to qualify for the bonus. They can require you to make a deposit of a certain size, bet on certain sports, or place wagers with odds greater than a certain limit. You must check this information before making a deposit. Making a mistake at this point will often cost you a bonus.

Step 4

You are ready to bet. We recommend doing a lot of research before you make your wager. If you are a big sports fan, there might be several events that catch your eye, but they only cover the first wager with a risk-free bet. You do not need to claim the entire value of the welcome offer as your first wager. Just bet whatever you are comfortable with, and the sportsbook will give you a free bet equal to your stake if you lose. Hopefully, you win and you can enjoy the sportsbook using your profit.

Responsible Gambling Ohio

Ohio is a state that encourages responsible gambling. That means no matter which sports betting site you sign up for, there are tools to help control your spending. These tools range from deposit limits to screen time reminders, and you can keep track of your winnings versus how much you have spent. We encourage all new players to keep an active note of how much they spend versus how much they win. Sports betting is not for everyone, so it’s important to stop early before you lose a lot of money.

In our experience with sports betting, it often pays to not bet. What we found is that placing bets every week is a guaranteed way to lose money. That is because some weeks there are upsets or other events that leave you out of pocket. It can save you money if you look at a game and decide not to bet on it. Remember, gambling is not a source of income. It is a pastime that requires players to exercise self-control over how much they spend.
